A farm road in our area passing through Spring Farm, which we often use as a short-cut to get to Magaliesburg (Gauteng, South Africa). I did a quick ink sketch in my Moleskine Watercolour Sketch-book and completed the colour when we got home.
You bring back so many memories of my trips up to that part of the world! Lovely painting. And to answer your question, we've had (what feels like) very little rain although the dams are full. I think we're in for more, but at least it's starting to warm up a bit!

You have probably noticed on Rb that my w/c paintings from the ninetees were sometimes too sweet and sentimental in its cleanliness? Yet I prefer 'fast and clean' above all the 'layering and lifting' one sees.You are building up a nice travelogue here!

ReplyDeleteThank you Marie! I prefer not too lift too much, it gives it almost a Gauche-like appearance and I only do layering with transparent colours. I've got all my "travelogue" sketches in one place, so a book is pending! lol
